Let's Talk! Recent Favourites
Hello friends! Let's Talk! is a (probably unoriginal)
new feature in which I'll talk about a wide variety
of books and topics, preferably in list format!

Hi, hello, good morning, good evening, and all that jazz. I hope everyone is having a fabulous day today... or, at least, like, not suffering because it is a Monday in my part of the world.
Anyway! Straight to the point: I sort of love recommending books. To anyone who will listen, I will recommend a book. And lately, I've been reading some great ones, and maybe you have them on your TBR, maybe you don't... but I hope that I at least slightly convince you to add them (maybe have a smidgen of interest) by the time this post is done?
Soooo, without further ado, here are 5 books that have been my recent favourites!

Isle of Blood and Stone by Makiia Lucier
Releases April 10, 2018 | GOODREADSWhy I Love ItThis book is a gift, okay? A gift. And I just. I love it to pieces. It's got fantastic characters, wonderful worldbuilding, and it's a high fantasy book that involves finding missing people and following treasure maps instead of overthrowing the royal family.
Suffice to say, that is something I am into.
Isle of Blood and Stone is a book that's filled with cute moments and undercurrents of humour, lots of maps and lots of adventure. It's written in a way that doesn't bore or seem obnoxious.
Plus a great lowkey romance and slow burn.
Why I Love ItAce of Shades was a book I've been looking forward to forcenturiesa long time now. And it definitely did not disappoint.
The best part about this book, hands down, is the female lead, Enne. Her development, her entire character arc, is a masterpiece. She's a girl you want to root for from start to end. She's someone who finds the will to keep going even when the tides are against her. Enne is an inspiration and I have so much love for her.
The world is another wonderful aspect, which is ironic because it's dark and grimy and, well, magic mafias, basically. How cool is that?
Bonus: angst. Lots of angst.
To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo
Released March 6, 2018 | GOODREADS
Why I Love ItKILLER SIRENS. That's first thing. Second? PRINCE KILLING SIRENS. Third? All. The. Banter.
Lira is wonderful and bloodthirsty and I Love Her. She takes princes' hearts for her birthday and she has no qualms about being like that. I adore her. She's fiery and fierce and sarcastic as hell.
Elian is one of the princes in this world and he is just perfect. He's a prince but he'd prefer pirate. He kills sirens before they can think to kill him. He's got a great crew and great friendships with them and it 100% makes me more in love with him.
Reminder: there is a lot of back and forth banter. A LOT.
Onyx & Ivory by Mindee Arnett

Why I Love ItI don't know what it is about this novel but I just have so much love for the characters and the book overall?
Once again, the female lead takes my breath away. Kate's arc is nothing short of amazing, and by the end, I was more than in love with her. She's had a lot thrown her way and I loved that she never fell down and gave up.
I liked that Corwin has a strong relationship with his friend, Dal, in the book. It's not something you see often and I was glad for it here.
While this book is a bit long, it definitely flies through once you're into it. Totally worth the read.
Blood and Sand by C.V. Wyk
Released January 16, 2018 | GOODREADSWhy I Love ItWhy don't I love it, more like. What is there not to love?
Attia is a fabulous character who could punch me in the face and it would probably be the best thing to have happened to me. Xanthus could just smile and I'd be happy for the rest of my days.
It's just one of those books you know? I can't explain why I love it so much so, I'm just, like. Gently pushing it towards you.
The romance is so sweet. The action is breathtaking. The characters leap off the page, make you care. It's a quick and amazing read.
Yeah, so like, to no one's surprise, I'm not very good at selling books. Maybe this was better than just screaming over the books, I guess?
Have you read/heard/added any of these? Or have I (maybe lol) convinced you to do so?
