{ Recap } Pre-Halloween Month is Over!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN! It's that time of the year, and I am ready to throw pumpkins everywhere and look witchy 25/8 because it is HALLOWEEN SEASON. Well. I mean, it has been, but now no one can give you weird looks for buying human skulls at department stores. Hurrah!

And to reiterate: HAPPY HALLOWEEN, FRIENDS. I am so, so excited for October just so I can see all the Halloween themed names on twitter, ignore seasonal reads like always and because I'm bad at those, CANDY, and all the wicked costumes. Not to mention: Halloween (or regular ol' spooky) themed events everywhere. Halloween is truly a Mood™.
So, what happened pre-Halloween, also known as the month of September? Well, it was... a pretty rocky month? But there were bouts of surprises and good days, and, as always, that's what I love to focus on, so here goes!
♩ Bank stuff that made me super anxious is OVER WITH. For now! It's done!
♩ Dad brought chocolate bars the other day lol
♩ B-Fest! I won stuff!
♩ LIKE REIGN OF THE FALLEN, Y'ALL.
♩ I met Sarah Glenn Marsh, AKA THE AUTHOR OF REIGN OF THE FALLEN. AND GOT IT SIGNED.
♩ I got to reread some backlist books!
♩ I got to reread some of my favourite books from... last... decade..... (what the hell?)
♩ Began a buddy read with my friend, Danielle!
♩ I took selfies that I really liked
♩ I was #2 in the GoodReads top reviewers thing!!
♩ I got a lot of cool swag in the mail! Again!!
♩ I won a few giveaways!
♩ Reorganised my shelves, so even if I have no space, at least the signed books are together lmao
♩ I finally made it to season 6 of Once Upon a Time!
♩ It's almost my first blogoversary! (what the hell? x3)
♩ Inktober started and I'm so excited to see all the amazing art in the tag
♩ I edited this photo and I'm just... really happy with how it turned out
♩ I got to see my friends! After so long!
♩ I met Holly Black! She SIGNED MY BOOK!
♩ AND TOOK A PICTURE WITH US
♩ I went to my first Brooklyn Book Festival, yaaay!
♩ I'M CAUGHT UP ON MY REVIEWS!!!
♩ I found a new song to be obsessed with, yay!
I always forget everything that happens in these things, lmao, but I think it's a pretty good list!

the reads
I finished about 13 books this month, and they have been some goood reads, so yay! I didn't get to all the books I was hoping to (cough, cough, sorry contemporary reads lmfao) but ayy, I did read old favourites of mine! Nostalgia is amazing.
14 books! Woo hoooooo. I've been meaning to read Sarah Andersen's latest too, so that was great.

beat the backlist update!
If you aren't familiar with Beat the Backlist, you can check HERE for my post or HERE for the original post on Novel Knight.
Ehh... I mean, there's technically one? But there are also some rereads, so I am pretty sure those don't count. I would count another, but that's a personal backlist (the book came out this year, so it doesn't count for the challenge). But one is better than nothing!

recent happenings
I've decided that this section will be a little look into my personal life and what I was up to, other than reading, during the past month.
Music wise: NEW MUSIC. YAY.
So Sleeping With Sirens released an album without my knowledge. It's called Gossip and I am really enamoured with it already, especially with the leading song, which is the same as the album title's. I've said this a few times already, but it really is the anthem for the cliché bad boy AND I AM LIVING FOR IT. It's super catchy and it just sounds so gooooood. There are a few other songs that I love too, like One Man Army, Trouble, and Closer! But the entire album, overall, is pretty neat.
Netflix/TV wise: Stiiiillll watching Once Upon a Time. I'm on season 6, only about 2 episodes in, and have no motivation to continue, which is just as well. Since it's October, shows will be coming back, and I'm excited!
This past week, the season 4 premiere of How to Get Away with Murder aired and I liked it. I'm excited for this season and the fucked up shit that's probably gonna happen. In the next couple of weeks, all the CW shows will be back, too, and I'm so happy!
Life wise: I'm stressed! What else is new? Several things have been bothering me but it's all out in the open now, with my family, so I guess that's one less thing I have to hold in. For the first time, holding in a secret genuinely felt like how it was depicted in the books lmao. Anyway, though, that's sort of over with and done. Now, my family and I—well, mostly my dad—is stressing over my application with DACA... So yeah. I hope we hear back soon because it's been a few months.
I've been thinking about my ideas a lot. One of them is inspired by that whole bank issue I had, and it's not an idea I've readily admitted to anyone yet. Just seeds of it when the real life issue first occurred to my friend. But it's past that stage and I'm trying to think deeper into it. I'm also thinking about what could happen in my potential Cinderella story... I've not written anything because I'm too scared, haha, but thinking about it is enough for now.

anticipated reads
October has so many books coming out, good GOD. I think there are like 10-12 books coming out on the 3rd and the 10th—NOT COMBINED. Per date! Like, jeez, can you imagine? And those are just from my shelves, which I cleaned out a few months ago. In general? I can't even imagine.
Here are three releases that I've read this month and are coming out soon!
And here are 3 I'm hoping to get to at some point!
I don't know if I'll be getting to any of the new releases, but here are a few that caught my interest!

So! What a September. And what an October—so many books are coming out! I don't know how I'll keep up, between this and my general fall TBR.
How was your September? What were your favourite books? What are you looking forward to in October?
