published January 30, 2018 by Entangled: Teen

Nothing good comes from living in the Devil's swamp.

Willow Bell thinks moving to the Okefenokee area isn't half bad, but nothing prepares her for what awaits in the shadows of the bog.

Girls are showing up dead in the swamp. And she could be next.

Everyone warns Willow to stay away from Beau Cadwell—the bad boy at the top of their suspect list as the serial killer tormenting the small town.

But beneath his wicked, depthless eyes, there's something else that draws Willow to him.

When yet another girl he knew dies, though, Willow questions whether she can trust her instincts…or if they're leading to her own death.

Wicked Charm was an interesting debut for me! I'll admit that I was a bit wary at first, but when the first murder came about, I felt instantly hooked to the story—which is something I didn't think I would ever write but I guess that says something about my tastes, hah.

Anyway, the murders! Look, I'm bad at guessing who the culprit is most of the time. In this book, I kept having to change my mind multiple times. It kept me on my toes and surprised me when the real killer was revealed.

The romance in this book is a bit hot and cold but full of banter. It took some time for me to warm up to Beau and Willow's relationship, but both main characters had sharp wit and constantly traded sassy comments with each other and I enjoyed that immensely!

Charlotte was probably my favourite character and I aspire to be like her. I loved all the scenes she was in and although I wished to see her and Willow develop a friendship during the novel, I still liked their interactions. I found Charlotte to be super complex and intriguing and I loved her development.

The atmosphere really makes the novel here. Hart did an incredible job at truly making you feel like you were in the swamps with the characters (and the gators). Combined with the murder mystery, it was definitely a fun and eerie setting which I liked!

Overall, Wicked Charm was a fun, quick, and intriguing novel! The atmosphere and mystery really made this book for me and I look forward to her other novels!
