{ Recap } January Edition
I don't know why I'm saying hello from 2018, we are all technically in 2018, though I know a bunch of us might be acting like we're in the 60's.
We aren't. ANYWAY. It's the end of the month, which means: RECAP. [jazz hands]

What a month. I'm pretty sure that I spent most of January sick and in a bubble tea haze. (Did I mention that my friend and I found our go-to flavours at CoCo? Like. This was my second try when I discovered it and Y'ALL. Life changing. Absolutely life changing.)
Anyway! Being sick sucks. I'm glad January is over! That's another month of winter behind us, praise the goddesses. I hate being sick, I hate the stupid cold, and I hate going outside in the cold.
And ironically, this past month was when I went out the most, so you can say I brought this upon myself, which is true, 100%.
I'm doing this a bit differently! No more list of good things that happened because I can't remember half of them! So I'm improvising! Which, uh, means a bit more to read (if anyone even reads these lmao) but yay?
But I'll keep it short!! Despite most of January being actual grossness, on a bookish level, lots of things happened! Sort of. I mean, I got accepted to some of my highly anticipated 2018 reads. There have been countless beautiful cover reveals! I GOT A BOOK SENT TO ME FROM P E N G U I N, who even am I?
Plus, a lot of bubble tea. And I saw my friend a lot. We had chipotle. Bless.
Onto the reads!

the reads
I read 16 books this month and honestly, a lot of it felt like rereads. Which is ridiculous because it was only for the last week really, and it's only 4 books (which is only 1/4 of what I read total this month). Overall, I think it was a decent month? I'm glad I got to read a lot. Ish.

other posts
I'm sort of wondering if I did anything at all in January, blog wise, because it felt like... well. Like I had the intention of posting something but being too lazy to go through with it. I'm... really hoping that changed because I have the graphics made up for them!
Anyway, though. Here are the things you might have missed this past month!

resolution update
This, indeed, is another New Thing™. I didn't sign up officially for the Beat the Backlist challenge this year, but that doesn't mean I'm not actively participating. Reading a backlist (or two! if I can manage) a month is one of my bookish resolutions, along with reading a physical book and a new monthly release (excluding rereads).
I'm happy to say I did not fail in any category for the month of January!

recent happenings
I've decided that this section will be a little look into my personal life and what I was up to, other than reading, during the past month.
FALL OUT BOY RELEASED A NEW ALBUM.
And I am so, so sorry for doubting them.
Admittedly, the lead single was not my favourite. To be honest, of the 5ish singles they released, I only liked two. But! Upon listening to the entirety of the album (several times, um), only Young and Menace was the odd one out still.
I've had three of their new, non-single songs on repeat because I love them soooooo much: Heaven's Gate, Sunshine Riptide, and Bishops Knife Trick, which you can listen to by clicking on the song titles!
I have discovered Zootopia and that is all I watch on the damn site now. I'm a bit embarrassed but it's also such a good movie what the hell???

Nearly all my TV shows came back this month! Legends hasn't yet or Once Upon a Time, but most of the other DC/CW shows have. And... I'm behind on all of them. ALL. I've been trying but gosh, I just can't bring myself to watch the new Flash and Arrow episodes, so I've been sticking with Supergirl and CW's latest, Black Lightning.

I GOT SICK. There, you know it again now. I HATE BEING SICK. It is gross and I sound weird and I want to stay in bed all the time (okay, that last bit's a good thing but still!). On the brightside, though, despite all of that, it's been a bouyant month for me, which I really needed lately! Seeing one of my old middle school friends a lot has been great.
Also! In this game I play, Unison League, there was this wicked cool event and guyyys. I got so many new things, INCLUDING MONSTERS, which I NEVER get. It's so exciting! I'm super ecstatic.
I also got accepted to my local indie's ARC Club and got my first book recently! I'm excited to read that soon.

This recap felt superlong. I'm sorry if that is the case, but oh well. I like this new way I'm formatting (though it's only a few changes).
Did you guys read anything fabulous in January? What are books you're looking forward to in February?
