All sorcerers are evil. Elisabeth has known that as long as she has known anything. Raised as a foundling in one of Austermeer’s Great Libraries, Elisabeth has grown up among the tools of sorcery—magical grimoires that whisper on shelves and rattle beneath iron chains. If provoked, they transform into grotesque monsters of ink and leather. She hopes to become a warden, charged with protecting the kingdom from their power.
Then an act of sabotage releases the library’s most dangerous grimoire. Elisabeth’s desperate intervention implicates her in the crime, and she is torn from her home to face justice in the capital. With no one to turn to but her sworn enemy, the sorcerer Nathaniel Thorn, and his mysterious demonic servant, she finds herself entangled in a centuries-old conspiracy. Not only could the Great Libraries go up in flames, but the world along with them.
As her alliance with Nathaniel grows stronger, Elisabeth starts to question everything she’s been taught—about sorcerers, about the libraries she loves, even about herself. For Elisabeth has a power she has never guessed, and a future she could never have imagined.
note!! this is my first review on the blog after a long ass time and considering I read this book back in, like, October, that's just. Something to keep in mind. Maybe.
surprise!!
Hi, loves! It's been an extremely long time that I'm having a hard time writing this. Writing in general. What is a blog? What is blogging? Is it okay to even just jump back into this like nothing happened?
I don't know!! Who cares!! It's 11 days (already! where has the time gone?) into the new year and I want good things to happen. This is one of my good things.
Since I've stopped updating (semi) regularly, so much has happened. So many ups and downs; so many new things. I feel like a new person. And... I kind of like it. I like this change.
So I wanted my blog to reflect that.
You might have noticed a fee new things so I guess I'll acknowledge the elephant in the room:
Biscotto's Books is no more. The blog itself doesnt exist, of course, and that's because I've deleted it. The old posts have been imported (because I worked hard on them!) but it's a new era. I've changed my theme and my blog name, so here's a proud welcome to Sorcery of Myth!
This year I just want to go back to basics. I want to get back into reading, but for fun. Not because ARCs and release dates are dictating my time. I want to read for fun, review because I want to—not because it's necessary.
Posts will be coming, but for now... I'm back! Some old reviews that have been on GR will be up soon, including a few great books I can't wait to scream about. You can expect more new things along the way! I'm testing out this new theme and what kind of aesthetic will go well with it.
And with that, I'm closing out! Happy New Year, loves. I'm wishing the best for both of us!
xoxo, Mith
